Idling Issues

Are they even looking at fuel trims or anything while there tunning it?
Bubba made a great point in using the smoke machine for finding vacuum leaks.
Do the techs there have the right equipment and skills to test MAF's sensors?

So I just got off the phone with the mechanic. While installing the new 24 lb. injectors, they noticed that the EGR spacer wasn't lined up perfectly, which could have been causing the so-called "vacuum" or "air leak". Also, they talked to C&L about the MAF and learned that the calibration tube was wrong. I just called C&L and ordered the correct one (black for 24 lb.) so that should be in soon. Hopefully the combo of adjusting the EGR and putting the correct tube in the MAF should solve the problem.

So now the 24 lb. injectors are in the car with the correction calibration tube. The mechanic says the car runs a little better now and idles fine, but after revving it up it shuts off when the RPMs come back down. Also, without the computer chip in it, the CEL light is on.
Any suggestions?

lol, I've thought about shooting it. He says that it'll start fine, idle fine, he can rev it up a few times, but usually on the third or fourth time it shuts off as the RPMs drop. The CEL light is coming on so I'll have to ask him what codes it's throwing. I'm just looking for ideas to throw at him because it's been having problems for awhile now and no one has been able to figure it out. I can't understand why. This can't be the first time this has ever happened to a car.

im surprised you havent pulled your car out of there, thanked them for wasting your time, flipped them the bird, and then contacted a real shop. I can think of about 4 places off the to of my head that would work with you to get your car tuned, and running good.

Adder is right. I just hope there not charging you for wasting your time.

They're not charging me. The reason it's taken so long is because they do lots of other work in addition to being mechanics, so they're working on it when they have time. Plus it's the winter and it's not like I'd be driving it a lot anyways. I have been thinking about picking it up and taking it elsewhere though. Problem is, one of the other so-called reputable speed shops in the area couldn't find the issue when they were tuning it! I just don't know who to trust.
