well i think I found the problem/s. really need to replace the wiring harness to be safe. several broken and wires twisted together. Oh the joys lol. I guess my next question is would a wiring harness from a 4 cyl work? I know the gauges are different but they all have the same plugs, my car is a 1988 5.0 lx. Thanks

now go through and check the wiring harness, don't change things just cover torn wires with electrical tape and so on.

Will do. I think I may still replace the harness, at least now I can change my heater core lol
