93 mustang gt battery relocation questions
Hi guys I have a 93 mustang gt i have just recently rebuilt the tranny in and put a new clutch in and have been driving for a few months now. The battery tray was missing so i Have my optima battery dangling in the engine bay with some rope which is sketchy. I want to put the battery in the trank I have a nice taylor stainless battery box and a bunch of heavy gauge welding power cord to make cables out of. I just have some questions as far as wiring goes. Ground is easy just ground right to the frame close to the trunk, a positive cable all the way up to the starter. But what do i do as far the the alternator goes? Im running a stock alternator not the upgraded newer version what do i do to wire it in order to still charge the battery run a wire off the alternator all the way back to the battery? Will I have any problems with hard starting or dim lights or anything like that? The battery is a brand new red top optima if that matters. Any input is greatly appreciated thanks!

No need to run any wires from your alternator. All you do is have to take the Positive wire off the switch on the fender well that is feeding your battery now under the hood. You will replace this with the longer(preferrably 0 gauge) positive wire that you are running to the back of the hatch for your new battery location. I would ground the battery to the bottom of the trunk and also run a 0 gauge ground from the bottom of the trunk (Same place that you tied the ground off the battery) up to the Bell Housing on the motor. This will give you better results. Ford is notorious for having cheap grade metal on their bodies.
