Default 88 GT Injector Swap, Now Car Runs Like Hell

Heres what I got:
88 Gt
GT 40 Intake (not the cheap *** exploder kind)
BBK Shorty headers
65mm BBK TB
MSD Wires, 6AL, Dist, Coil

I recently came into a set of injectors (blue tops, 24lbs?) and MAF, both off the same car (mod motor GT that had a super charger, not sure of the year). The car ran perfect on the stock MAF and injectors (passed CA smog test less than 4 months ago like it wasn't on the machine). A friend of mine had swapped in a set of blue tops in his GT, and said it was a hell of an improvement, so I figured I would do the same. Why go slow when you can go fast, right? So I just finished the swap tonight and fired it up and the car ran like hell. It was missing and barely idling. It also smelled like raw fuel was just being dumped into the intake. After about 2 minutes of letting it idle, the missing went away and it seemed to calm the idle down, but the raw fuel smell was still present. I double and triple checked the fuel rails/injectors to make sure I wasn't leaking fuel and all was dry. So I took it around the block, and I had a ton of smoke coming out of the tail pipes. It also died on the test run, but fired right back up. The new MAF required me to use the mod motor plug, which required me to bust out the soldering gun. Also, I have no check engine light. Please help, thanks, Justin

youre sure the maf is cal'd for those injectors. you probably need a tune. try running codes to see if you get anything. def gotta figure out why its so rich all the sudden. doubl check that wiring to the maf too.

number 1 he does not need a tune if the mass air is the proper one for his application, second check for vaccum leaks and third simply put larger injectors in a otherwise stock motor will not add hp, the ole azzometer needs some recal IMO.....the only reason for adding larger inj is when the efficiency of a motor has been improved, ..ie larger heads, intake , cams ect ect , the better and faster a motor can efficiently move air through itself will thus flacilitate the need for larger inj, 19 lbs inj can and have been able to support up to 300-325 rwhp but then the duty cycle is nearly maxed, thus requiring an injector that can deliver more fuel over that period of time to avoid lean conditions, with your current mods, you are no where near the point of needing larger inj, but if you think it'll help go for it, even though the reasoning defies fact/logic.

It kinda sounds like you have the injector harness's mixed up, and they're missfiring, also it could be your maf not calibrated properly, is it an aftermarket unit (has a brand name on it) or does it say ford?

btw, nothings wrong with exploder intakes, its the chinese gt40 knock offs that have the problem

Your engine is now getting more fuel and air. Check your fuel pressure and back it down a bit. Also you may need to undo your battery terminal to reset your stock computer. Your computer needs to reset itself to start learning your fuel and air consumption. If you still have the stock regulator that is nonadjustable you will have to upgrade to an adjustable one. Until you do that you may have to get the 19 pounders back on until you do so. For your combo the 24 pounders are almost useless!! I know thats not what you want to hear but... Until you do an upgraded HCI swap then they will come into play!!

put the stock stuff back on.

you DO NOT NEED MORE FUEL OR AIR until you go over about 300 hp

the stock stuff will support it all day long. i have sprayed all 3 of my cars with the stock stuff. intake swap with stock heads is a whopping 5 hp gain... so your no where near.

i have gone 12.50's on stock everything and 100 shot on a 190 pump. 100k stock motor
