Default Clunking noise?

Hey guys,

My mustang makes a clunking noise in the back of the car and it feels like whatever is making the noise is making the car jerk real bad. I will try to explain this the best way I can. When I say jerking I mean that it feels like what a car does in real low rpm and you hit the gas a little bit and the car kinda lunges forward then feels like its going die then it lunges forward again. Kinda like when a new driver first starts driving a clutch. It will do this pretty violently even at 1500 rpm. First and second gear are real bad and third only does it a little bit, fourth and fifth seem fine. It almost sounds as if something is loose and clunking around back there. It will even do it sometimes while I am just cruising down the road out of no where the car will jerk (like it had a miss in it suddenly) and I will hear that clunk.

Any tips on what this might be?

P.S. I do have a spool, could this cause this? The reason I ask is because I am going to Auburn posi real soon. The spool sucks on the street!!
