Default Battery Dying

I have replaced the battery in my 91 fox with a new one. Overnight it drains down. I can't seem to locate the source of the current pull. No lights on- interior or exterior. Put a meter on the positive cable on the battery with nothing on- pulls 4-4.5 amps. Ground is good on the negative cable. The alternator is putting out around 13- 13.5 amps when car is running. This is with no radio and the doors closed. Does anyone have any idea what may be pulling the battery down. The car is a convertible, only has 2 interior lights. No check engine lights on either. Kinda at a "DEAD" end on this one. Any help or advice is appreciated as to where to start troubleshooting. Thanks.

I would start by taking the alt out of the equation. See where that gets you.

cut the car off and check the opposite sides of the fuses, if you want pull your knee panel off and check and see if the ignition switch is drawing any voltage.

4 amps is a relatively large draw for whats supposed to be an idle system. i'd start looking into larger electronic components, like blower motor, or a large sound system(if you have one).. stuff like that.

Car stays parked in the basement of my house-50 to 60 degrees. I don't have any crazy stereo equipment. I'm leaning towards the ignition system being the culprit. Been a busy weekend so haven't had a chance to tear into it. I appreciate the feedback so far. Thanks!

why did you replace the battery in the first place?...did you add anything to any circuits?.. stereo, lights, anything?

Took the old battery to advance auto, they checked it. I was told it had a bad cell in it because it wouldn't charge completely or hold a charge. Now that I think of it, the battery may not have been bad, good thing Wal-Mart prorated it. New one cost less than 20 bucks. Still haven't looked into it yet. Hopefully this week things will be less crazy. I appreciate all the feed back. When I do find the problem I will post it in case anyone else has this type of situation occur. Everything in the car is totally stock. That is why I am a little confused. This happened all of a sudden. The car is not subject to drastic temperature change or anything like that.

best bet is to hook your multimeter on there looking for draw, and pull fuses 1 by 1 until it drops. you have a large draw so you'll see it immediately when you find it.
