i can't remember which belt i used, but i ran the same set-up with a/c... I just went with the shorter belt to avoid paying for the $60-100 smog delete pulley. I ended up ordering one anyway.

After building the motor, and using the smaller belt, the car ran fine, and the belt fit well, didn't appear to touch anywhere. That was a goodyear gatorback and it lasted 40 miles before it imploded in my engine bay really making nice work of all the recent powdercoating and polishing

I ran to the parts store, and grabbed another, this time all they had was a Gates... and grabbed another back up etc, etc. One of my mustang buddies did the same thing, although the belt seems like it fits fine, there is a very very minute area under the belt tensioner where it is rubbing. he spend hours d*ckin around with his and shimmed and shaved areas of the bracket and his tensioner etc.

I just went and bought the delete kit, have yet to put it on. I have a brand-new stock belt waiting with it, so hopefully this will fix the issue. I just wanted to give you something to look for bc I had several buddies and ASE techs look at the car, and they couldn't see it either unitl my one buddy clued me in, so just a heads up!

Good luck!
