Won't Pass Smog
We just bought this car, and it passed the last smog the guy had, but barely. the check engine light came on but i told my dad it would probably go off if he ran it longer than for 10 secs. so, the next day it was off but we took it in anyways and told him about the smog and the speedometer being off and he said hed clean the intake and other stuff. today we tried to get it smogged but it wouldnt and the guy said it only has two cats and the book says four. is that right and about how much would it cost to get two more and installed? also, he said the tps was off.

You probably have an aftermarket catted midpipe. Cats are expensive and even more money to get them installed. Go look on summit racing. The TPS is easy to set BTW, I wouldn't pay him to set it.

i looked on 50resto.com and high flow cats were about $150 which isnt too bad. we called him about the tps and he said hes probably wrong and its probably fine. i think the check engine light is on again so who knows what thats about.

You probably don't have after cats which have rhodium in them to lower nox. It could also be that your egr isn't working correctly because it lowers combustion chamber temperatures to reduce nox.

The check engine light is on because of the missing cats IMO, I guarantee if you put a 4 catted pipe from a stock mustang on that car, the check engine light will go out. Might as well give it a shot since you have to pass smog anyway
