Can you explain how a 1 3/4 can hurt performence because it allows exhaust to flow faster, which creates less back pressure.

you just dont need 1 3/4 headers they are just to big you dont have enough exhaust coming out to need that big. I have the MAC 1 5/8 headers and they worked great on my old 302 and on my new 331

just go with us on this one. if you dont believe me go look in an older MMFF or was it 5.0 mustang they did a comparision on the BBK line up and youll see that they do hurt. remember you have a small motor. its not a high end power house. if smaller tubing wasnt benefical then all cars would have 5' exhaust. and 3 inch headers. and it doesnt just allow it to flow faster, you cant produce that much air to flow fast enough and it can cause turbulence

I'd go with BBK or MAC, they are the most popular headers and they show great power gains and have a good price tag. Heddman's aren't bad, haven't used them on anything but have heard very good things about them. Whatever you do, don't buy Ebay headers and I wouldn't suggest getting used headers either off of Ebay.

when you go to a larger primary tube you can lose low in hp..with larger primary tubes tuning the header is need to max hp in the right RMP range....so headers can bring 30hp+ in high horsepower engines with the right tuning of the header
