Default timing or faulty ecm

So i used this link http://sbftech.com/index.php/topic,7114.0.html which is very detailed an super handy the pictures do wonders..but yeah i followed directions set my timing properly but my question is about the spout connector by the distributor for some reason my motor runs / idles way better when i have it disconnected / unplugged and in that link it says "The SPOUT plug is simply a jumper used to allow the ECM to control spark advance, or disconnect the ECM from controlling spark advance; and be able to set initial spark." Soooo does that mean i need a new ecm? what is the ecm btw obviously its not the ecu? when i connect the spout the idle bounces a bit an seems like it wants to die and makes a little bit of a rattling noise from think the harmonic balancer or somewhere in front of engine so ima run it with it unplugd for now is that bad?? any ideas thoughts or opinions greatly appreciated thanks for the input

I wouldnt run the vehicle without the SPOUT connector as you will have driveability issues.

What exactly did you do to the vehicle before these issues occured? How was it running prior?

Hmm, interesting.

I always thought for optimum engine performance to be maintained, the ignition timing of the engine has to change as the operation conditions of the engine change, such as engine speed, engine load and so forth.

well this stang has been through it an back again for more i rebuilt the motor from top to bottom but i am using the old wiring harness / computer an who knows what kinda shape theyre in...i've replaced distributor an every part on it. ever since i through this 65mm throttle body on haven't been able to get it to idle correctly but i dont think its the throttle body think its my iac needs to be replaced...but also thinking the ecu may be not perfect cz when i start it the revs bounce a bit before getting to idle and with the spout connected the idle struggles a rattling noise comes from front lower end of motor and sometimes just dies..now since i've taken the spout off it idles better doesnt bounce or rattle an yeah seems to work properly but am i losing horse or throttle response??

I am wondering if the outer ring on your harmonic balancer has slipped and when timing it it is too far advanced already, then when you plug in the spout, it advances it even more causing it to run bad??
I know when I time mine @ 13, it reads well over 20 with the spout hooked back up.
Just a possibility. Did you replace the balancer when you rebuilt it?
The IAC is also suspect.

One other thing, what is your TPS voltage at idle? should be under 1.0v. I like .94v to .98v. If much over 1.0v, it can cause too much advance too.
