Has anyone had any luck patching there floor pans? i have and 87 ttop thats been sitting for like 5-6 yrs and i got a small hole in the floor pan where the ttop leaked and just kept draining to the same spot. I know they have full replacement pans but i dont think its worth it to buy both pans (most of the deals ive seen) to replace such a small spot that can be replaced with a flat piece of sheet metal. I have helped friends before patch spots in floor pans but they were in much older cars and we used 14-16 gauge sheet metal, even road signs sometimes. I was just wondering if anyone else had patched their pans in their fox and what metal they may have used?

i went to the junk yard and cut the section of floor i needed and weld that in

If it is just a small spot then you should be good with just ctting out what you need to. But it has been my experience that you see one spot and when you get started with the work you find 5 more. Get the carpet out and spend some time with a #1 phillips stabbing the pans so you can find anymore spots. if you have gone over everything and havent found any more rust spots you shoud begood to go with small patch. Take your time and get it cut and welded in cleanly.

i was hoping to even maybe try and use something that would provide some pretty good strength since its a t-top car and theres not a whole lot holding the car 2gether besides the floor if youve ever taken the head liner down and seen the pop rivits on the tiny bit of metal that actually is up there. just wondering did you use the floor you cut out of the junk yard car on your ttop car or another mustang?

i have no issues if u can weld it will be just as strong as when it came from the factory and if u r that worried about it but sub frame connectors

ok cool thats exactly what i was gonna do ive had them for a while but wanted 2 wait to put them on til i knew for sure what i was gonna do with the floor. figured i was gonna patch it prob. either way just wanted 2 see how anyone else made out. but since yours is holding up good and ill have basically the same set up i can just get down and do it
