2nd gear grinds until tranny warms up
92 5.0 LX with Hurst short throw shifter. until the tranny warms up, you need to really ease it into 2nd gear or else you get a nasty grinding sound. any thoughts, please let me know

this is what i used 
This 70W80 GL-4 Gear Oil (SAE 5W30/10W30 engine oil viscosity) is designed for use in manual transmissions and transaxles. Provides excellent protection of gears and synchronizers and its balanced slipperiness provides a perfect coefficient of friction, allowing easier shifting. Popular in many BMW transmissions and in most Honda and Acura transaxle applications.

ATF fluid has detergents in it and constantly cleans the tranny. gear oil will gunk up in the winter because of its detergent free mixture, which causes the mixture to sludge and somewhat harden.
