connect it in the trunk, I would run an engine ground from where the current one is too, and it should remain the same size or bigger if possible

When I did my battery relocation, I put a ground wire down through the trunk pan, and onto a thicker part of the unibody, and also ran a smaller gauge wire up to the front and connected it directly to the side of the block.

Always was told to run a ground back to the block or else could cause electrical gremlins.

Make sure you have plenty of ventilation... fumes may make the Trunk Monkey ill.

You can ground it directly to the chassis, and not run an additional wire to the front. That chassis will act like a huge ground wire.

An additional wire or braided ground strap from the front of the chassis to the block is a good idea, though. Sometimes the motor mounts will prevent a good ground.

I thought the same thing too until I started reviewing how many different welds, joints, and attachements there are from the back of the car, to the front. The resistance from one end of the chassis, to the other, is significantly greater than it would be if you ran a ground wire up to the block. Which is why you should add the additional wire to the front.

It all a matter of electrical principles... Its just smart to do it!
