Kinda like the light bulb that you put in same fixture at once. Untill it quits. Will get louder then if it fails you will here a ruckus.

So it hard to judge when it will happen? When this has happened to someone else what kind of time frames have you seen? This has been going out for about 2 weeks now and there is a noticeable change in the way it sounds.

that ruckus you hear will probably be the forks on your pressure plate being riped to pieces. worst case scenario

could this car with the problem still be driven about 150 miles on the highway or should i not do that?

theres no tellin without actualy hearing it it could last another oilchange or just a trip around the block but must of the stress is sxerted while shifting so i think highway maybe alright MAYBE.

also i jut had some look at it and he said that it was the harmonic balancer. could this make a noise like it? He also said that the oil smelled like mint does this mean anything? i don't know about different smells in the oil. it has over heated before but did no damage to my gaskets and no water made it in to the oil.

change the oil soon as possible....it's probably nothing. Have a mechanic look at it or post a video with sound. It could be million different things.
