Default New Noise

My car decided to start making a new noise from what i can tell it is coming from the trans/clutch and was wanting to know if i could get some help on finding out what the problem is. The noise is a whining while the clutch pedal is not depressed but when you push the pedal about 2 inches, sometimes resting my foot on the pedal, the noise goes a way. The car still drives pretty much the same as before the noise (only been going on for about a week) but there is some change when starting to accelerate in 1st gear but after that it is fine, still shifts fine. any help on the subject would be appreciated. if any other info is needed please ask i will try and answer as best i can.

My car does have high mileage and in the almost 2.5 years i have owned it i have not replaced the clutch.

thanks

might be a throw out bearing. mine is making a bunch of noise too, and a few gears are slowly going out, but thats been happening long before the throw out bearing noise.

is the throw out bearing easy to replace or should i take it to a shop? i have some experience working on cars but not much. i mainly like to tinker with cars but i could try to replace if it is not all to much work. also if i took it to a shop about how much would it cost?

thanks for all inputs as well

I'm in Jacksonville only hour or less from most places in New Hanover Co. Nephew had a knee replacement at Cape Fear Hospital in December. March 1 I go for a femur fractured in 3 places and total hip. TOB job with part would be around $240, but neither one of us has a set of good legs right now. If you ride it for a bit may be able to help in time. Call around you should be able to find a shop in Wilmington that will do the job for around the price I gave. Around Raliegh the price will be higher. Bubba
