Hypereutectic pistons
am planning on rebuilding my 302 am gonna run a trickflow top end and a 100 shot should i go with forged or can the Hypereutectic take it.... also would it be worth getting it bored out to a 306

if you're not boring the 302 and or doing other machine work to it , then just bearings in rings and new gaskets is not a rebuild, it's what I call an overhaul...and it depends on what brand of hyper pistons you plan on getting, forged is always better for spray

for cost and working well with spray, I live the Keith Black/KB pistons, I ran a 100 shot on them with no problems, for bearings I use clevite and fel pro gaskets and rings , I like the moly ductile iron sealed power brand, I buy all of the stuff seperate, doing such costs a tad more but insures me of quality/decent parts for the money

How many miles are on it? If it has less than 100k, then I would say overhaul it with new bearings and seals and call it a weekend. If it has more than 100k and you have the engine out, I would tear it all the way down, bring it to a machine shop, and get their opinion on if it needs to be bored out or not. If it doesn't need to be bored, you can have it honed, put new rings on it, and retain the factory forged pistons (if your 302 had them). When I rebuilt mine, it needed to be bored out (175k miles with a previous hone) so I put DSS forged pistons (quality but very cheap) in it, so that I can throw anything at it and only be worried about cracking the block.
