engine is bogging at 4500 help please

idunno if its the f cam that limits my rpm or what but i get around 4500 to 5000 rpm the ****in thing jerks back and i hear craziness comin from the block its a 91 carburated 5.0 with n fcam and heads. my buddy told me to shift mad low but i just wana makesure here and eversince that happened i dont let it get past 4000

Not the cam prolly fuel or weak vlv springs. But what was the noise? What kind of sound?
