Default timing with supercharge

Ok I have a 306 with a x542 cam, edelbrock heads, trick flow r series and a vortech supercharge with 8-10 psi msd btm retard. What should I set my timing at and the retard boost at.

8-10 base is fine, the btm will pull sufficient out up to 3 degrees iirc per lb of boost on max setting, I'd set the btm at 1.5 to start then lower it until detonation is heard , then you know how low you can't set it..lol

The best way is to rent a dyno for an hour and add timing until the car starts to make the same power or drops off with timing increases. Then go from there.
