Timing question
Wats up guys. Jus had a quick timing question. How much is full timing and how much timing do u guys normally run jus everyday? How much timing do you run racing? No power adders or anything. Jus 1/4 mile racing. I have a well built 331 with 10:8 compression. I run half gas(half 110 octane and half 93 octane)

10.8:1 is all ? why SOOOOOOOO much octane. prob need 18* just to run like it's on pump gas and 12*
on just 93 i'd go 12* all day long, possibly up to 16* racing but you should power time it at the track. also note temps and air quality like you spray if you run really high.
i only run 10-12* but thats so i dont have to bump down when i spray

I agree with nitrous_bob when it comes to spraying but if your not gonna spray it( and I don't know why you wouldn't at least spray 150 through it) then you might wanna mess with it a bit.
The higher octane lets you crank more timing in if you need it. Think of it this way. Traction is key in the 1/4 mile.... we all know this. Start at 10 or 12 and launch it... increase your timing 2 degrees each time and launch it again. Do this until the tires break loose which will probably be around 18 to 20. Then back it off 2 degrees. This would be the optimal timing needed to go the quickest in the 1/4 mile.
