Distributor - steel or cast iron gear?
I am going to replace my distributor on my '89 GT. Seems I have two options, steel or cast iron gears. I know the previous owner upgraded the cam in this, but I have NO idea what the hell he put in there... any thoughts? Also, a link to a good distributor (no refurbished) would be helpful... am leaning towards "MSD Ignition 8456 - MSD Pro-Billet Ready-To-Run EFI Distributor", for $262.95. Thanks!

Who knows. If the po replaced the cam, and it's a stock type setup, steel gear. If he replaced the cam with one that has an iron gear to work with an older dizzy, then an iron gear. If it's a billet cam, then it may or may not have a billet gear, which would require a bronze type dizzy gear.
Chances are it's a stock type cam that's a steel core with a steel gear, so it needs a steel dizzy gear, but that's just a guess.
