Default TFS Stage 2 Cam Install

I'm about to upgrade my current combo to a Victor Jr. intake and a tfs stage 2 cam. Does anyone know whether this cam is designed to be install dot to dot on the gears or if it is supposed to be degreed in? i.e. retarded 3 degrees? Thanks? 302Army what did you install yours at?

It's always best to degree a cam in, but they can be installed dot to dot.

From trying to do some research, it looks like decreeing the cam actually is verifying the cam specs and making sure nothing is off and then adjusting it accordingly with an adjustable gear or something??

Install the cam 'doy to dot' and then you use your degreeing euipment to verify what you have. If you need to change things, stuff like multi key crank sprockets are out there...
BTW, when you degree any hyd. roller type cam you need an extra pair of rollers so that you can make solid rollers for degeeing purposes. Drain the oil and clean them out with brake clear and then blow them out with air. Get someone to TIG weld them up solid...

you dont need solid lifters if you use a set of (low cost) low tension checking springs. I went to my local hardware store, into their "pick-a-bolt" section. They had a wide selection of springs. I found some that were close to the correct height (~2-2.5") that were fairly soft. $5, I had a pair of checking springs...

you know what really takes the cake??? You can do it with the intake manifold still on the car. (or in my case... you cant get your link bar lifters out because they hit the bottom of the heads....)

Trick flow tech e-mailed me back today and said that this cam already has 4* advance ground into it and that it is installed best "straight up" or "dot to dot" ...so that's what I went with today...only problem I ran into with the install is the damn throttle cable bracket for a victor jr. intake. I knew this thing didn't have the provisions for the stock bracket so I picked one up from advance auto that is held in place by 1 carb stud/nut and it wouldn't work with the stock '85 length cable. I've seen pics of other brackets I hope I can find locally...

You can use light springs if you want to but I know more than a couple very successful builders that do the measuring and degreeing thing the way I described.
Something to do with accuracy........
