Default H/C/I mustang questions

Got a car with trickflow intake/head with a crane cam, On a cold start, the idle surges for alittle while and goes away and runs fine, but im trying to figure out what is causing that surging?

Also sometimes after i drive it for a bit and turn it off to restart a few mins later, it idles for a couple seconds then dies if i dont touch the gas pedal. I can keep it running if i play with the throttle for a couple seconds and it wont die while idling at red lights or anything. So i was also wondering about that too.

I'm faily new to 5.0's and this is my first h/c/i car so i'm learning the ropes aftering having a modular mustang for awhile.

could be that it needs tuned or could be something as little as a temp sensor or iac. my car did that from a cold start up. you see when your engine is cold, the computer reads that and sends more fuel to keep it running, where as your ect sensor (engine coolant temp) comes into play. i would have to throttle it at first for a minute or so, and after that it was fine the rest of the day, but next morning the same thing. or, the iac, which should help pick up idle could need cleaned out. but adder may be right too, it may need tuned.

beat me to it...

you can set your idle to the point where it ALMOST wont surge, but to get it not to at all, youll need a tune.

oh another thing: dont let any idiots here try to convince you that an A9L is a better option...

The A9L has no place in the SN-95.

BladeX10... Just because the car was tuned, doesn't mean it was done right. Your tuner probably only did your WOT tuning, and didnt bother with drivability (most dont anyway)

A fox or SN95 setup with any of the typical OTS cams will not show any idle problems when done right and attention to details is given. Run a set of system self tests (DIY KOEO/KOER Self tests Procedure) and correct/fix any important failure codes, make sure valve train is set correctly (no excessive lifters preload), perform a Summarized/Corrected Base Idle Reset Procedure.
