alternator upgrade

im gonnas upgrade the alternator on my gt car to hopefully a stock 94/95 3g alt. what all do i need to do this? and are they 1-wire alts or not?

I got one of those cheapo HO alts off of egay and was suprised to find it only worked for 6 months. I took it to an alt-rebuilder and he said that part of it was ready for HO but the voltage regualator was still mickey mouse. After spending $75 there I have not had a problem for 2 yrs now.
