Default Auto Transmission

I have a 1989 LX Convertible with a 5.0, the question that I have is the auto transmission has 1st gear, than drive, that over drive. What is the correct way to run transmission through a quarter mile. I bought for my wife about a month ago and just trying into get a good quarter time.

leave it in d

if u do the AOD shuffle.....holding 1...shift to d....pull back to 1 to hold 2....then shift to d for 3rd you will break it.

a basic rebuild is about $1500, and thats with a crap converter

If you do a vlv body upgrade the tranny will last longer doing the shuffle.

I'm not questioning your knowledge, I have the aod-e so I have no idea, but why does the aod shuffle cause damage?

Don't get me wrong, it sounds like a really bad idea to me, I'm just curious.

If you have a AODE then the shuffle is out turn off the OD and manual shift it , still a good idea for a vlv body upgrade! If its an 89 then its an aod unless someone did an expensive upgrade!
