Oil Pressure
#11
There's a lot of things that can do that though. Improper pickup to pan clearance is a big one. Poor oil return. Erratic oil movement in the pan(typically from acceleration, braking and cornering).
Sometimes all it takes is for the pickup to suck a bit of air for a half second, then the pump cavitates and oil pressure collapses. A bit of trash sucked up can also jam the bypass open, which can destroy an engine at lower rpm, since it bypasses a large portion of the oil and can't make any pressure. Oil exits the bypass before getting to the engine.
But there are 2 HV oil pump myths that continue to be perpetuated, that they run the pan dry and cause extra distributor gear wear. Neither of which is true. Engines with HV pumps that suffer oil or dizzy gear failures....people blame the pump. But usually there are several other things going on that are likely causes, they just don't get the blame.
Still though, on any performance engine it's a good idea to AT LEAST run a baffled pan, preferably a larger volume baffled pan.

Ok i see your point. i cant vouch for this persons ability to build an engine other than assembly lol!
He prolly didnt check the first bit of clearances on anything! thats just the word that was spread.
