Default what kind of lifters to run?

im building a 331 stroker and was wondering if i should run the stock style lifter set up with the spider holder in the valley. or if its worth it to spend the money on the link bar style lifters. thanks.

Once you start getting into the .550"+ lift range, the stock lifters and spyder system are a liability. Higer lift than that and the lifters start pushing the dogbones off the block... which can eventually cause one to fail.

just saying

im asumming that your talking actual lift at the lobe and not through the rocker right. and in that case stock spyder style should be good for now since its jus getting a trickflow street cam to start.

actually, no. I should have specified.

It's ~.550" lift at the valve with 1.6 rockers (IIRC) I spent a while trying to figure that out after i was warned about the dog bones breaking. I took the measurements a long time ago, but I do specifically recall the max for the dogbones measuring out around .580" lift on my stock engine, measured at the valve. (read: through 1.7 roller rockers)

Yeah, stock is fine for mild cams, but if you're going to turn rpm with a high lift cam, you want something better. Lunati sells link bar style that are made by Morel, which are some of the highest quality lifters around(without stepping up to the Jesel stuff etc).

They tend to run around $325 give or take.
