Used Procomp heads a good idea?
Found some Procomp aluminum cylinder heads 210cc stud mounted rocker arms, guy said it is all very new, bolted on and ran a couple of times. im waiting on pics and an explanation as to why he is selling them. I have the stock E7s on mine, and i would love to get some TFS twisted wedge down the road but i cant afford them at this point in time. He wants 400 for them, think its worth it to buy and install these until i can afford the TFS?

they would be a poor choice for your engine combination. Those would be a good idea if you had a 351w swap with higher compression, or a 351w stroker... But not for your 302.

my buddy is the head tech for the NMRA. I just asked him about an exact set of heads made by pro comp and he said pro comp heads are junk. Machinist also confirms.

This is a convo that has been had on here before.....Procomp got a bad rep years ago for poor quality. They have gotten alot better from what I have heard around the interweb... I have one of their flywheels and had NO issues with it. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that it had SAE bolts instead of the normal Metric so I had to get different bolts and not use the FRPP kit I had.
For $400, so long as they aren't screwed up, are worth it. Even if you can't use them yet they would be good for a future build. I would snatch them up if I had the cash :) |
thanks for the input, but the guy decided he didnt want to sell them. I have no idea why. i was supposed to meet him today and take a look, but he called and said hes gonna keep them.
