Default AOD question.

I have. 93 5.0 with AOD. I know hardly anything about automatic transmissions so I'm hope y'all can help.

From standstill through first it's fine. First to second is fine, but it shifts real quickly into third. From third it will rev the RPMs really high until shifting into Overdrive. Sometimes I have to let off the gas before it will shift. Fluid levels are good. Any ideas?

Please don't tell me to rip out the AOD and put in a manual because that will never happen.

a stock aod tranny does not hold 2nd gear to hold second gear you go up into drive then back to 2nd before it can shift

Rip the aod out and get a c4 transmission sorry couldn't resist. I had the infamous aod in my car and all i can tell you is, once it starts acting up, like shifting weird, it can't be fixed, because with this trans you will solve one problem then another problem arises. I learned the hard way and spent way too much money on the aod and still ended up with a lemon trans. I put a c4 trans in and couldn't be happier, the c4 trans automatically and manually shifts instantly when you want it to, not like the slow retarded aod. Ford engineers were drunk when they designed the doa trans.

You are experiencing the normal issues that AOD has....OD burning out....The AOD can be rebuilt to be a decent trans but if you want one fully built it will cost you twice as much as a c4. If you want to keep an AOD just get it rebuilt with better bands and a few internal mods then do the epoxy mod on the valve body....
