Default A little radiator help please

Hey guys,

A bud of mine is swapping a radiator (mishimoto aluminum radiator) from the stock set up. The car is a 1994 GT Auto. The problem he is running into is the fitting of the stock tranny cooler lines that run to the new radiator. The lines won't quite reach and I suggested manipulating the bends in the hard lines to clear the fan and still allow the nipple end of the hard line to fit inside the radiator bung and then thread the line into the radiator.

So has anyone else run into the situation. We are gonna go look at it together once it cools off. I know, I know...I am a *****!!! LOL

Thanks for any help of info

Mitch

either bend the lines, or you can cut the line(s) that arent reaching, and run a rubber hose to connect the 2. or if he has any power mods he could also just spend an extra 40 bucks and buy an external trans cooler for it.

Well, we'd rather not cut the lines and y'all know me I'm all about getting a new tranny cooler...LOL. But we are looking for a fix right now. So, unless any more ideas other than what I and ctgreddy have thought....it's gonna be manipulate and bend the stock fricking lines. OH that is SO MUCH fun!!!!!!!!

Modify the mounting brackets up top of radiator? If it has ABS the system needs to go back so does bracket for CCRM overflow. Thicker radiator. Now look at cap...19lbs! Your heater core won't like that. Don't try the stock cap, will not work......NAPA 703-1446 is a 16lb cap. Yup, sure had a time with this straight up install.

go to your local parts store and look for brass extensions, I've done such in the past on other cars.

Hey Mitch,Ran into the same exact problem with my buddies 04 GT with the mishi rad, we simply moved the mounting brackets forward by drilling and taping new holes closer to the end of the upper rad support which in turn allowed us to move the radiator closer to the lines and that did the trick.

I would much rather bypass the factory trans cooler system and run an external cooler. Preferably one with a stand alone fan. Or even modify the stock setup to include what I just listed, after the radiator.

I have heard that they redesigned the radiators to try and fix old problems they have been having but was happy to hold out gettng mine until I could confirm they were better now. Now they don't mount up straight? Sorry I will pass.

my buddy has a mishi in his '02 gt, no problems with install but it's a 5speed, however after one summer we pulled it out with the engine last winter and found that it's been leaking some. it wont be going back in that's for sure.
