Default multi-switch going out?

went for a night drive a little bit ago when all of a sudden my lights started flickering off and on erratically. They were on brights so I put my dims on and it straitened out, then did the same thing. I turned them off and back on, and dims would be ok then when on brights theyd do it again unless I held the lever toward me. I'm thinking multi-switch is going out, any other possibilities besides the light switch?

Either that or the headlight switch. 87-93 suffers from a wiring flaw in the circuitry due to the foglights. I'm not sure if the 86's are victim of this flaw, can't hurt to check though. Google "gt fog light fix"

Check for distorted or damaged plugs at light and multifunction switch.

The fog light switch fix seemed irrelevant, but I did some browsing and may have found what I needed. I do have upgraded headlights, and saw where one guy mentioned he had issues with the switch getting very hot. Seems the thing to do is run relays, which seems easy to do. I also have been meaning to ask, I did the upgrade but when on dims my dims aren't too bright it seems and my brights are on but very dim. Could this be a contact issue in the multi-switch? I'm thinking my best option would be to replace the switch and run relays for added assurance, anyone else have more input? Hopefully my plug hasn't been effected

Either a contact issue or a resistance issue. I imagine you'd suffer near the same problems as the 87+ models wiring with your upgraded bulbs.
