Default 88 gt rproject

hey all im steve ,


just bought an 88 gt runs good new tranny was a manual orig, but they put a auto in it , no electric in car works i think the guys son had after market stereo in it i ripped out bunch of amp wires gutted the interior , kid said it smoked from under dash and he started taking crap apart car is solid no rust but minor surface on roof i sanded already. any ideas where to strart to find this wire problem could it of fried a relay im not that good with elect in cars never really messed with it. i only paid 250.00 so i couldnt pass it up.

I would start by removing the entire wiring harness and replacing the whole thing.

holy jesus, what a mess. I feel for you man! I agree with the above comment you are going to need a new harness. painless wiring is probably your best bet.

ya its a pain i cant find a harness anywhere i got a buddy looking monday for one he knows where 6 5.0 are the guy is selling stuff cheap , other than this no luck on anything and i noticed the number 9 fuse slot has fuse melted in there.

If you change out the cluster as well then yes it can work BUT their will also be extra wiring for the air bags...The harnesses are not the exact same but it can work BUT since you are not good with wiring get one for a 88....

It would help you if you finish taking out the dash and see all the wiring...

k i got the entire dash removed now so im just hunting down a 87-89 harness thanks for the tips guys
