Thanks for the diagrams and trouble shooting. I found the problem inharness to multi switch.
For your info that manual shows all the connections, grounding points, color coding, and complete colors of wiring. Very nice!

I have a 94 GT and an 88 Ford truck with very similar headlight wiring and switch layouts. Each was subject to burned and overheated connections and multifunction switch failure. after having to drive home with the brights on because of a failed multifunction switch, I got a harness to power the headlights from the battery through relays controlled by the original wiring. It was easy to install and eliminated the wear and tear on the vehicle wiring with the higher wattage halogen bulbs available now. Here is a link for the harness I used in my GT...
