Default Brake light coming on

For the last month the brake warning light started coming on in the dash when I'm accelerating. When I get up to speed, and lay off the gas, the light goes off after about 5 seconds. If I speed up to pass someone, it goes on again. Short near the ebrake handle maybe?

The light shares a circuit with the brake fluid level sensor, at the master cylinder, and the handle sensor. Check the fluid level first.

Good call, the fluid level is low. I bet the intermittent light is the fluid sloshing over the sensor. I better check the bleed valves, because I know there are no leaks at the master cylinder or underhood lines. Any other place the fluid might be going?

My sig is just a random image i picked up.
As far as the leak, anywhere the brake fluid travels is capable of leaking. Master rear seal can leak into the booster, lines can pop anywhere, and the rear wheel cylinders can leak into and out of the rear shoes.

You nailed it, I put some fluid in, and no more light. Thanks for the good call!

The fluid drops as the pads and shoes wear. Check them because they may be worn out. Be careful when installing new ones because now that you topped of the M/C, it will overflow when you push the caliper pistons ans wheel cylinder pistons back in.

Good call, I didn't think about that, and I probably would have been on here asking why my reservoir overflowed later. LOL
