Default Quad shocks on 87 GT

Let me start off with saying that I am still learning about these fox bodies. I removed my rear tires to check my brake pads(96 cobra) I realized I didn't have any quad shocks installed. Well I didn't even know I needed them until I saw the brackets. My CAs look stock so I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be quad shocks installed. Where can I get a pair for my 87 GT on the cheap? I don't plan on keeping this car too long so I am trying to just fix everything as cheap as possible. My local auto store only has KYBs for $66 bucks each! There has to be a car shock made by monroe or something for $20 that will work...right?

if you arent planning on keeping the car... don't install new quads. The next owner is just going to remove them anyway!

Why would the next owner remove them? Are you assuming that the next owner would install aftermarket control arms? I'm trying to learn all I can about the fox bodies but its hard to get answers sometimes!

Quad shocks were Fords answer to axle hop due to the godawful design of the UCAs on the rear of your fox.

The simple truth is that they're crap. If you or the next owner is relying solely on the quads to limit hop - you need to invest in some time/ $ into some control arms.

Check out the sticky in the suspension section - lots of good info to better explain what Im saying.

mostly people ditch them to have clearance for a wider tire.

all you really need to do is reverse them end for end and you can fit an 11" wide tire on it

Thanks for the info guys! I don't have any wheel hop issues but I just wanted to make sure I didn't need them. I didn't want to run the car with no quad shocks if they were something I should have installed.
