Default Small Problemo.

I noticed a strong smell of gas coming from my exhaust. Ive got an Edelbrock 600CFM on a stock '87 5.0 motor. (efi > carb swap)
Is this carb too big? Is there a way to "tune" it so it runs leaner?
Any way i can get more power out of this carb?

Oh btw, may need a write up on adjusting a TV cable using a Lokar aftermarket cable.

carb size is fine for a stock motor. When did you start to notice the smell? Is the smell noticed at idle or at speed? Does the car run-on after you turn the key off?

Float adjustment could be off (Too high), Jet size could be too large. Timing could be too retarded. Idle/Air screw could be incorrectly set.

It doesnt diesel when it turns off. But i have noticed under the hood, ill pull the accelerator and notice gas coming out of the nozzles in the bore of my carb. It seems like its coming out slow. Like lagging.
Also, anyone know how to adjust a TV cable? When i first got my car, itd shift fine in OD at around 3200 as well as hard. Now it shifts early and soft.

No clue how to explain it. Needed a picture of the slack on the cable, as well as setup on the transmission side if possible.
What exactly will rejetting do?

A Eddy 600 straight out of the box will need to be leaned out to make it run leaner/smoother. BTDT......The carb will work great for the car so long as you learn how to tune it.

Yes you are supposed to see the gas being squirted into the bores of the carb. If tuned correctly your throttle response will be better than that with the stock EFI setup. That is one thing I loved about my carb setup.

The biggest thing you need to pay attention to are the tables in the manual....

Get the carb tuning kit from summit for that carb.

Then check your plugs, if they are black or dark looking refer to the table that goes with the carb ( I.E. 1406) and go down and left on the chart......then look at the table and see which jet/rod that needs to be changed to get you there...
