Also, you clearly know nothing about tire sizing. Please go do some reseach (google how to read tire sizes). A 225/55/16 is a 25.7" tire, which is stock (correct).
The "stock" tires for 1987-1989 GT's are actually 225/55/15's (they fit on the 15x7 turbine wheels)they were not 225/55/16's, as you mention. Ford made the wheel-well wider from 91-93 to accommodate 16" wheels. From 91-93 the stock tires were 225/55/16's on 16x7 wheels. My car is in near-mint condition, with 62,021 miles on her. I do not have "severe suspension problems", LOL!. You came to that conclusion by looking at the pic I posted!?! At any rate, I've done some additional research, and it seems 225/55/16 tires in the front, as you mentioned, will indeed solve this very common rubbing issue with the wider tires. I have a pair on order. Thanks!

Thanks, Mike, but I just ordered the 225/55/16 tires for the front. I am certain (after much research) that this tire size will be the fix. Next time I come to the shop, we'll be spending our precious time on "go fast" mods!!!

I was under the impression that the second number was the sidewall height (i.e. 55 mm?) The first being the tread width, third the I.D. in inches.? Also, I've read that the "pre '90" Mustangs has a smaller front fender opening. Not sure if either of these bits of information are correct..

You are right, from 91-93 the wheel-wells were made bigger by Ford to accommodate 16" wheels.

Ok, "gumbo" donut tires made me laugh... it's true, though. These tires, which I ordered from American Muscle, are insanely wide for some odd a$$ reason!

And just to add, Here is an ebay auction for a set of Goodyear tires that were probably OEM equipped onto a late 80's mustang with 15x7" stock wheels

http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-86-87-88-...653064&vxp=mtr

also, have you ever even seen a 225/55/15 tire? I've been working in the automotive industry for a long time and I still have yet to actually SEE a set. I don't get very many chances to get out to the races to look at Hoosier wet track tires...

You clearly have some serious anger issues that you should work out with a licensed professional. I will not dignify your rants with a reply. PS - had you clicked on my "garage", you would have see a picture of my car from the side (and the severe suspension damage). Going forward, I ask that you please refrain from "helping me" on any future posts that I may make. Many thanks.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ON PA FOR A WHILE KEITH DO YOU NEED A TIME OUT?? Keith, let me make this short and simple, if he had wanted to buy new caps, he would of, he wanted to use what he had so I gave him the alternative........ever think that what he had may have been a gift from a special person to him and therefore that's why he wanted to use them at whatever cost??? Next time before you go on yet another rant, you'd better have all the facts. I'm done cleaning up after your messes and this is the final straw, one more spat or complaint about you and I'm sure admin will be happy to give you the permanent boot, unbeknownst to you I've saved you from that more than once. Enough said.....please to the rest keep the thread on track
