Default 91 grinding into 2nd

I just got it the other day and i've had no problems other than when you shift into 2nd you gotta work to get it in. it'll grind sometimes and not want to go in. the shifter is floppy as hell because the rubber bushings(best way i can describe them) are worn out where the shifter connects. maybe it's making me not be able to get it in. I'm going to fix that tomorrow.

your shifter doesnt have rubber bushings...

the clutch is probably well worn, your second gear blocker ring is probably ate up from the previous owner, thinking he's mario andretti... and you should buy a new shifter to replace the stocker you are likely to be rocking

+1 Second gear blocker ring, maybe even ate up second gear itself depending on how long he was grinding it. Won't hurt to get a good shifter to stiffen things up, but guarantee that won't stop the grinding. You can reduce the grind quite a bit by double clutching into second as a temporary crutch while you think about getting a rebuild.

well i put in a new shifter and it helped alot but it still does it. sometimes it will go in fine other times if you slam it in it'll go in without grinding. a few people said maybe the syncors. i'm going to take it to the transmission shop that built the trans tomorrow i guess. i know very little about manual transmissions.
i've been just skipping 2nd for now

I ran mine for a couple broke years with a worsening grind. I couldn't even get it into second without double clutching. I got pretty damned good at that by the time I rebuilt it. I had to not only change the 1-2 slider, but the whole second gear as well. I have the 2nd gear on my desk as a paperweight. The teeth that the slider engages are rounded nubs. LOL
