Default How much should I pay to have these fixed?

I was told that on my 91 Mustang GT that the shocks are bad, and that the ball joints are too. Does anybody know how much is reasonable to have a mechanic fix these?

They wanted $780 for the shocks, and I don't have the paper with me and forget for ball joints.

Just wondering what is a fair price as I look at local mechanics?

$41 each for the balljoints
$230 labor.

Also, before I forget do you guys know if it's disc or drum brakes in the front of a 91 GT? I think if it's disc I could replace them myself but not drum

Drum fronts faded out ages ago, I don't know of a car that still had them in the 80s and were gone for sure by the 90s. Also as far as shocks, some do suck, others are a cake walk, so don't give up based on one friends bad experience
