Default Foglight(s) question(s)

Hello, new to the forums and to the fox scene as well. Purchased my first back in November. Just ordered a set of replacement foglights ( others were gone ). I try to plug in the lamps and I hit the toggle switch on the dash for the lights to turn on and nothing. So I recheck the connections and they are both securely clamped in place and they are on the correct way. ( One side is flatened so you can't mess up the connection ) So that doesn't work, I took a small wire brush to the two pins sticking out thinking they may be corroded from wear and tear of not being plugged into a female end and still nothing. I tried toggling the headlight switch as well as the foglight switch and nothing, as well as turning the key on. I'm assuming that neither of the last two things said would help anyways but just wanted to make sure. Would this be a short in the wires somewhere? Bad toggle switch on the dash?? Planning on putting a meter on the male ends tomorrow to see what it says. Hopefully I've explained as much as I need to, if ya need anything else lemme know. Open to ALL answers and feedback!!

You're taking all the correct steps for diag. Only thing i can think of other than bad switch or break in the wires is check the foglight relay

First off, you checked your fuse right? Should be #15. If that's good I'd pull the switch. You'll probably see a burnt/melted plug. Replace the plug and wire a relay into the foglight circuit so the headlight switch doesn't handle all the current for the headlights and fog lights. Even if this is not your problem (which it probably is), I would highly recommend doing it still.

Here's a write up on how to do it.

Also, I doubt it's a short. If it was a short to ground, you'd be blowing a fuse. Short to voltage and they wouldn't shut off.
