Oil catch can, advice?
 

I need to get a oil catch can to stop my oil from making its way from where it belongs to where it doesn't via the PCV valve. Last time I had the upper intake off, I found a puddle of oil in there. The baffle before the PCV valve is there, as is the screen.

There are a crapload of catch can options on Ebay, and almost none in the usual places we buy auto parts. Some are basic, some have breathers, some have vacuum gauges.

I'm going to make a guess and say that one with a breather is going to create a nice vacuum leak for me. Is that accurate?

Now one with a vacuum gauge, would that be a handy thing to have somewhere under the hood? Is the circuit between the Upper intake and the PCV valve going to give me an accurate read on vacuum in the first place?

Man, the guys over there have expensive tastes, for sure. I was thinking about some of the $35 offerings, and they are all dropping $100+ on these things...

What do you expect? Fox bodys are for the poor or for the people that know these cars can own the expensive ones with a bit of know how and cash. Very hard to define either category.

Just seems silly to drop 100 bones on something so technologically simple. Nothing earth-shatteringly complex about an aluminum cylinder with a couple nipples and a bit of steel mesh inside.

I didn't know fox bodies were for the poor, I thought I was driving our muscle car heritage here! LOL Not to mention something you can diagnose with a paperclip as opposed to fancy computers and a degree in computer science.

I wonder what the cash equivalent in 1989 dollars would buy you in the Ford showroom as compared with today. I bet the new stangs are more expensive.

I think I'll make a blueprint of what I'm looking for and have my cousin's metal shop make me a one off that mounts wherever the hell I want it... Then we make a buisiness out of them and sell them for $200 to snotty Corvette owners and make a fortune. LOL

one of the 05-12 posts was from a guy that made his own from parts from lowes. i think he said it cost around $30 (maybe less).

Update:

I splurged and went with the UPR oil separator. There's a rep from UPR on the boards that sent me a discount code for 10% off, so I took advantage of that. I got it installed a couple days ago, and it already had a tablespoon of nasty-looking oil in it after the 100 miles I put in since installation. I'm impressed.
