Default Car still running like crap

At a complete loss of what to do. Code reader throws nothing significant (canister purge, but I believe that to be because smog pump was removed?) Went as far as to take the under drive pulley OFF of the alternator, just to see if it was an issue.

Car will occasionally throw a CEL light to tell me that it's running rich, and the car is only getting like 10 or 11 MPG.

It surges like crazy, tonight while at cruising speed (2500 RPM), i noticed a little pop and it felt like a miss.

Could this be caused by ripping out the smog pump, but not completely removing the egr stuff?

Also, when I swapped my intake to the new one, I used the IAC from my stock intake because the plug was different. Today I noticed that the explorer one is a little different. I assume it doesn't matter because the holes are the same size...

Suggestions would be great!!

combo is:

1990 GT, Ported&Polished GT-40 heads with trick flow springs, Trick Flow Stage 1 Cam, Cobra Upper and Lower(ported), Under Drive Pullies,Cold Air Intake, Off Road H Pipe, Long Tube Headers, 1.6 Roller Rockers, 65MM Throttle Body, 70MM MAF, T-5 swap

I considered removing my EGR crap but heard it can be a PIA to get everything to work well after.

Check for play in your distributor. Wiggle the rotor, if there is any play whatsoever, try getting a reman distributor.

02 sensors are brand new. Maybe 500 miles old, got them when I first started the car.

Should I go ahead and just replace them again? And I've already replaced the air temperture sensor, relocated it from the intake runner into my cold air intake tube. Is this the same sensor that you're talking about?

Also, base timing is set at 10 degrees. Haven't touched it

was just under my hood and noticed that this was disconnected:

Does anyone know what that is, and could it be the cause of my car running rich and getting horrible MPG/surging?

You need to run a KOEO and KOER test.

Adder, have run the scanner a few times, but I just went out to run it again.

Have a real scanner, so I know it's accurate:

fast code, KOEO:

85 o=Canp ckt fault/C=fuel at lean limit

Continuous memory code:

33 Insufficient egr flow

Fast Codes, KOER:
21 , Coolant temp sensor (never see this before, but it's funny that it popped up now that you mentioned it)

41, EGO not switching, lean exh bank 1
33 Insufficient EGR flow

looking forward to hearing back from you,

steve

With a bad or missing coolant temp sensor, the car will never leave cold start open loop. The ecm will see a -40 degree coolant temp and dump fuel.

That connector should connect to another connector that goes to your Canister Purge Solenoid that is near your Charcoal Canister.
