Manifold leak or engine knock?
I have an 89 5.0 with 51K miles. I am not sure what to be looking/listening for when troubleshooting. It just sounds like a 1989 car, a knock but it is more acceleration dependent and sounds like maybe a leak from the exhaust header. I have header gaskets I thought about replacing just to see.
The engine runs strong, oil pressure is good and it does not sound like a lifter tick. It is especially noticeable upon startup, as soon as it heats up a bit, it stops doing it from idle but as I accelerate on the road, I can hear it.
I know this is vague but I am not sure I want to attempt to change the gaskets out if there is something I should be looking for first.
