Default Low power when under half a tank

I have a quick question. I recently bought another 94 Mustang GT and i noticed everytime the car is under half a tank it has very little power. It only runs well when I have over half a tank. Would this be a fuel pressure regulator problem? Or maybe the fuel pump?

Fuel pump or fuel filter maybe. I'm thinking the "gunk in the bottom of the tank" thing is a myth. I took out my tank at around 300,000 miles thinking I was going to need to clean it out, and it was gleaming. Think about how liquid sloshes around in just a drinking cup, and then think about how it would slosh in a bathtub. I think any "gunk" would have long since found its way to the fuel filter.

Yeah, the myth of gunky tanks is a good one. I've yet to see anything but a few pieces of dirt in the bottom of any tank. Otherwise, gleaming like mentioned.

As far as the problem goes... Hard to say. Usually, problems perceived such as yours tend to be just coincidence. Really, the only thing that can cause that is the fuel pump, but FP's that are that far gone usually have other issues to go with it. Best bet is to buy a fuel pressure gauge, hook it up and run the hose/gauge up to the windshield and tape it there. Watch your pressures as you drive.
