Default H Pipe

Im looking to buy the highest flowing H-Pipe that is legal in California Emmissions wise. I understand the Off-Road H-Pipe is a no go here in cali... I find the H-Pipe but its expensive, I dunno if its the cats or what but its like 400 bucks. Isn't that a bit much? Anyone know where to get it a little cheaper, or know if I can use the Off-Road H-Pipe and not have it be ilegal?

Thanks

i heard that even if you get a highflowing cat equipped H-pipe that it still wont pass your visual inspection since stangs have 4 cats and those pipes only have two. to some it up i think your screwed.

The cutoff for cal emiss. is 30 years old. But cal. goes by model years, so it is actually 29 years. I have a '74 car and DMV says no smog chk req'd. Another car is a '75 914 porsche that I thought was going to be a parts car, but in less than a month... If the specialty equip manufacturers assoc (SEMA) can keep the pressure on, we will have a chance to keep tinkering and improving without worrying about the "smog *****" too much. I think we are still at the mercy of a roadsidevisual inspection tho. Another "option" out here is a diesel-no smog required. When a diesel packs it in, the owner usually dumps it for cheap. Then you can get outrageous with an engine swap, 'cause the DMV thinks it is still a diesel

remember you get what you pay for. bbk is a nice piece. you can get mac if they make one for cheaper money. but less quailty. or just buy a offroad pipe and just switch them back and forth for inspection. offroad pipe 160[closeenough] and beautiful sound.

Will it smell worse that a pipe w/cats? An off-road has better performance anyway right?

If so I should just get an o/r x-pipe and switch for inpection huh

since there wont be cats youll get more exhaust flumes as long as you dont dump them you wont smell it in the car. youll only smell it when behind the car. i have heard in some states that they have sniffer checks on the interstates. so youll fail that check if your state is one of them. but if you state isnt one of them and dont mind a few hours of labor every inspection go for it. youll love the sound of a offroad pipe.

That kinda scares me, I'm in California - think they have em here?

If not I guess it seems worth it for the o/r x.

Also, is it common for people to put on these "not legal" parts and swap em back, or will I be the only @$$ out there to do it and get cought for it lol
