Fox stock alternators in 2022 Clocking Conspiricy!
Hey guys!
I hope someone can tell me what is going on here. Basically I been looking around to replace my stock alternator. Every where I look Autozone, lmr, advance, napa ALL have them clocked to 10 BUT from the back!
Mine is clocked to 10 but when looking from the front so when installed the regulator clip is at about 12 position. I am pretty sure all these positioned at 2 will be behind or hitting the bracket. Why is everyone selling the wrong part? I am very confused here!
So no change since this post. I have continued to search and a correctly clocked stock alternator for my car does not exist. Seems the options are rebuild , buy a reman and get it reclocked(which probably voids warranty if noticed), junkyard or upgrade kits(that cost 3x my alternator). I even went to autozone just to try the one clocked at 2 but the regulator clip hits the bracket.
Really surprised no one here has ran into this.

Does anyone know if I can just use an alternator from a 90 f-150? After looking around the 90 f-150 alternator is clocked like mine and looks just like mine. It seems like the ones they sell for our cars these days may be clocked for GMs but the f-150 ones look correct. I am just not sure if they are interchangeable. All specs are same though.
Well think I got it sorted out, kind of. I ended up going with the alternator DL7734. Autozone lists it for a 90 f-150 xl with 302 5.0. It does not come with the correct pulley but they can easily be swapped. The size fitment and clocking is all correct and both are 75amps. With car running I get 14.34v.
There is a duralast gold with possibly correct pulley but it comes with pigtail pre installed for stator clip and you can not use stock clip. It was dlg7734.
My only question and what makes this even crazier is there is no oem number referencing the dl7734 back to an original motorcraft part and I could not find a single alternator from ford which matches the dl7734. The closest was a motorcraft gl514 but it was only 60 amps, so if anyone ever figures it out lmk!
