Default Air silencer removal

I took off the air silencer and cut off all the plastic leaving only a rim and the hold down clamps so the air filter will stay on. This allows more air, but now I get a check engine light. The car is still running fine and seems improved somewhat in acceleration. Should I be concerned with the check engine light?

Was this done with car running or battery connected? Its probably due to the MAF reading more air. Try to reset the computer by disconnecting battery for a few minutes.

My check engine light comes on randomly, and I haven't had a problem after 6k miles, so I don't think it matters lol.

The light still comes back on. But not a big deal I guess....it's just something the comuter is not used to.
