Won't start...

Hey guys, I'm still having electrical problems. Everything is getting power but it when I try and start it makes a wierd electrical sound and the engine turns over like half way and doesn't want to move any more. I'm thinking that it's the starter solenoid. Anyone got any suggestions?

Did you try and jump the Starter Solenoid?

turns over a bit? dead battery? or bad connection?

Sounds like a dead battery. Is the wierd sound like a rapid clicking? That's the clasic symptom of a battery without enough juice to turn the motor. Remember that just because it shows 12 volts sitting doesn't mean anything. If the battery is weak, when the amp load of tuning the motor hits it, the voltage will drop. When the engine is turning over, the battery should stay over 11 volts.

All connections should be good I think that it's the solenoid, how do you jump the solenoid? I said the battery is good it shows sufficient charge and everything else turns on. it's just the starter is being very wierd. What kind of tests can I do with the multi-meter to see what's going on here.

No I know what a low battery sounds like, it's not that, I had it on the charger for a few hours and it still did not do anything. No clicking, it's a sound that's hard to explain. But once again my ground wire gets hot when I try to crank it over. Maybe I should ground it to the frame. Now I'm thinking that It's a grounding problem.

Check all your connections. Sounds like it could be a loose or dirty one. Don't forget that sometimes a wire can become loose inside the connector. Also, make sure you don't have a broken wire (or partially broken). Another thing to consider is that it could be a bad starter pulling too many amps.

i Fing told you change you damm ground. starter spining slow is a sign of bad ground. trust me ive found this out when i didnt groun my battery to the block when i did the relocation. i was only getting 8 volts to the starter.

I'm going to jump the starter straight from the relay tomorrow. Quik... Why did it work before? So where should I reground it to?

if you over heated the wire. the wire could of broke down. once a wire gets to much amperage thru it, it then is basically junk. ive seen wires that instantly turned green with a transformer spiked.

you said you had a extremely hot wire before right there i would of got a new wire. wires do break down
