Fuel pressure drops fast after engine is off

Fuel pressure drops fast after engine is off
I was adjusting my fuel pressure the other day and noticed that after you shut off the motor the pressure drops pretty rapidly (hits 0psi in about a minute). When the car is running the fuel pressure is very solid, in fact the car smells like it is running rich at an idle. Which is why I adjusted the fuel pressuer to begine with. The car was at 45psi w/o vaccuem when I got it, and I turned it down to 35psi w/o vacuume. That helped with the rich smell.
Where would be a good place to start looking for the problem? I've listened for leaks around the injectors and have heard nothing. There is no smell of gas anywhere under the hood or under the car. One thing I did notice is that on top of the pressure regulator there is a bolt that the adjusting screw goes into. The screw was stuck into the bolt so when you turned the adjusting screw the bolt turned with it, causing the bolt to be loose. I broke the screw loose and tightened the bolt. Could the regulator be the problem? Like I said there is no smell of gas anywhere, and no puddling on the intake like you would get with bad injector o-rings.
Thanks for any input.

RE: Fuel pressure drops fast after engine is off
It could either be the fuel injectors leaking, an external line leak, or the check valve in the pump. The pressure sould hold at operating pressure for at least 15 minutes.

I dont think on a stock mustang it has a check valve to hold pressure when the cars not running but why would it matter anyways, unless there is fuel leaking somewere?
