Default 1986 V8 to V6 swap, wanna go back...

I am looking at a 1986 GT that someone swapped a V6 into a V8 car. I was wondering how hard it would be to go back to the V8. The car is a convertible automatic and the body is real straight, he only wants $800 for it. He got the car this way and doesn't know much about what was done for the v6 swap. Would the trans still be stock? or would they have had to swap that as well? What about drive shaft and rear end? Just wondering what was involved in getting this car back to its former glory.

You sure its a swap? Foxes came with a V6 option as well, up to 86.

Ok well the trans is for sure not gonna work. The driveshaft and rear end might be the V8 versions, might not. Need to know what you have in the car before anyone can tell you what will fit.

You could easily put GT trim on a non GT car, run the VIN number at your local Ford dealer to be on the safe side.

This.

It is MUCH more common for guys to put GT trim on a car to make it "look" faster than to take a 5.0 and put a junky 6 banger in it.

Is this guy the original owner?

Nevermind you said he got it from someone, chances are it's a stock v6 with just trim added.
