Thats prolly not egr related, check the codes first then get back to us! I have mine completely gone with the plug hanging free and i dont have a rich problem never had on any egr delete i have done! you could be sucking in extra unmetered air if its not a good crimp on the pipe that can cause you to run rich. yes i know extra air usually means lean but not always!

see thats the problem the cel comes on and goes off i have had it checked and never pulls a code but i do know its running really rich could it be the o2 sensors? and since the headers arent fitted for the egr valve and the pipe going to it has been cut should i just delete it

Cap the headers and forget about the EGR. Hard to tell it's running rich without actually using a wideband. It could be something as simple as the car needing a tuneup

Your good as far as the EGR goes then. They sell cheap block off plates on ebay for capping off the intake side. And like I said, standing behind the car and sniffing the tail pipe isn't the most scientific way to tell if you have a stoichiometric firing rate.
